As colleges and universities across the state have been hit hard by economic losses due to Covid19 and related drops in enrollment, Michigan is increasing funding to its 46 public higher education institutions, a sign that the state government led by Gov. Gretchen Witmer is prioritizing education and the needs of the emerging workforce. The number of faculty has increased by more than half in the last thirty years.
